The Ant King (왕) was an immensely powerful Magic Beast born from the Ant Queen on Jeju Island where an S-Rank Gate had opened. The Ant Queen, who was monitored 24 hours a day by a Japanese satellite, showed a massive decline in its magical energy. It was later learned that this was due to the Ant Queen birthing her strongest child, the Ant King, for the sole purpose of beating strong Hunters. The King was one of the few magic beasts capable of communicating with Sung Jin-Woo similar to Baruka of the Red Gate and Kargalgan. Through his ability, Gluttony, the Ant King was able to learn human languages including Korean after devouring powerful S-Rank hunters. It is one of the most powerful magic beasts introduced within the series, with no hunters present during the Jeju Island Raid being able to fight against it, excluding Sung Jin-Woo. The Ant King is the primary antagonist of the Jeju Island Arc. To view the entire article, click Ant King.

Summary

10 years ago, after “the Gate” that connected the real world with the monster world opened, some of the ordinary, everyday people received the power to hunt monsters within the Gate. They are known as “Hunters”. However, not all Hunters are powerful. My name is Sung Jin-Woo, an E-rank Hunter. I’m someone who has to risk his life in the lowliest of dungeons, the “World’s Weakest”. Having no skills whatsoever to display, I barely earned the required money by fighting in low-leveled dungeons… at least until I found a hidden dungeon with the hardest difficulty within the D-rank dungeons! In the end, as I was accepting death, I suddenly received a strange power, a quest log that only I could see, a secret to leveling up that only I know about! If I trained in accordance with my quests and hunted monsters, my level would rise. Changing from the weakest Hunter to the strongest S-rank Hunter!

I don't understand why people like this plágio, this not creative copy of hunter x hunter (1995) plus The moonlight sculptor (2013) which are far superior than soloplagio sololeveling (2017). Hunter X hunter and moonlight sculptor are truly master pieces, solo is just 2/10 at maximum.

I would actually stick this in a special place in my heart. Something I would like to call “Good Quality Trash”…. And that’s cause there is too much of it. That’s the amazing thing about most of these KRWN- Too many of them are good in their specific category that it’s hard to say if one is worse than the other. Luckily a lot of these KRWN end up as manhwa so we can judge em further. Heard a continuation of the manwha specifically started up so I came back for another read. Let us not stray further from the Dao Bless to your future paths fellow cultivator

IMHO, the stories not the best. Its decent but there's many novels out there with better plot, world building, and character development. HOWEVER (before i have guys breaking down my door), the one thing this novel does extremely well, is Hype Generation. Like it is basically the same thing over and over again (later on) with bro coming in at the last moment to kick *ss. But I still get hyped for it every single time. Solid 8.5/10

Dude u are not wrong and everyone has their own opinion. I think it got more famous cuz of manhwa and we all know we don't need a mind blowing story for a novel to be entertaining and good. I just like to read something which can make me feel entertained. And Solo Leveling is one of those but maybe I am biased regarding this as this was my first manhwa and reason I started reading novels. Btw 3 side stories are out in the manhwa people.

(2/2) I also like how even though his summons have no feeling (idk how to describe it) he still seems to have a warm relationship with them. Even the more powerful ones. The novel also sprinkles in small doses of comedic relief, if you can consider it that, and its not petal to the metal every single word. There are some moments of rest. One thing that I can say without a doubt is that I think Cha Hae-In was unnecessary. I don’t remember all of her moments in the story but the adding the underlying tones of potential love interest were not needed. I faintly remember but I feel like when I was reading it I was asking, “What is the point of this?” I wont say anymore as to not spoil. If I havent already. Writing this no bad things are coming to mind so please reply with your opinions. I want to hear other people’s views on the story.

All the characters in the story are quite weak, it's not really a philosophical story with super deep intricate characters. Cha Hae in, wasn't necessary yeah but like why not? I mean there are so many flaws in the story and i can keep going on and on about them, but the fact that it's trash is why I love it from the bottom of my heart. I have read it like 5 times now and that's proof of how much i like this crazy super hype read. The story isn't the main point, like literally everything else apart from the power fantasy aspect of this novel is great but it does what it does to it's best. I doubt any series can match upto this series purely in terms of power fantasy. Even sung Jin woo doesn't feel solid in terms of character, no character is in this, cha Hae in was just nice simple addition to give a slight touch. Like, there is no need for these characters to feel solid imo, no need for the plot to be intricate, it doesn't need to be that way. Idk why i actually live this, but i loveit

(TO NEW READERS) One of the greatest stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It is not perfect, but is there really anything that is? (These statements are my personal opinion. Its ok to not agree). It has been a bit since I’ve read this so please forgive me if some of my statements are off. I feel like there are many good things that make this one of the best weak->strong stories currently written. The story flows amazingly and for the most part the plot never become stale or too overwhelming. He also does not become so strong that nothing is a challenge. He faces challenge all the way to the very end. The story does not become too focused on him beating something, getting stronger, beating something, etc. The story balances it out with other events with development of other characters, his relationship with others, and shows lots of world development too. You see how his actions as well as others genuinely affect the world, and he doesn't just do whatever he wants. (1/2)

I heard its practically the same thing its just that the Sung Drip Woo, is now japanese and the setting is now Japan instead of Korea. So I think only the setting is changing. And the background for some of the other characters.

Well let say I still stand by my opinion that this novel is trash and filled with plot armor and there no suspence in it.

Manhwa doesn't contain side story chapters So it's better If you finish manhwa then read the last 30 chapters (side stories) of the web novel

      Reply
    • hehehaha 1

you dont have to but there is more detail then the manhwa and more chapters at the end i think
